Dear Pastor Ko & Sister Sharon,

Makoto and I moved to Hawaii in the summer of 2000, when Jo had just turned three. We started attending FAOG because Joyce Kitano told us to  Then, in September 2013, Marcie Green retired – exactly 11 years ago. How quickly time has flown! I didn’t realize how busy our church really is until I began working for you. As a regular attendee, you don’t fully see all the behind-the-scenes efforts of the staff until you become one! I’ve only had the privilege of serving as staff for 11 years, but you’ve been in ministry for 40 years! That’s truly remarkable, and you definitely deserve a celebration! And Sister Sharon, you are the woman behind the great Godly man Pastor Ko has become. I deeply admire your devotion as a true praying woman. It has been an honor serving alongside both of you. God certainly had a plan in moving us from Japan to Hawaii. FAOG has become our family.

Love, Makoto, Megumi, Jo, Hana, Ken

Many have voiced how grateful they are for your leadership, grace and love. I, too, share how from your young age have progressed the Kingdom of God by your teachings/character, transparency and accessibility, and the heartfelt piano playing of Sister Ko (I’m much older to call her Mama). also remember clanging the water glass at your and Sister Ko’s wedding.

Dear Pastor Ko and Sharon

Congratulations on your fourty years in ministry. Steve and I are very blessed to serve under both of you. I became a new Christian under the college aged ministry,Charisma, that you and Sharon led. The young adults were on fire and I grew tremendously in my walk with the Lord. Charisma transitioned to Island Christian Singles (18-35 years) in the years ahead. Steve and I met in ICS and worked closely together. Eventually we married and soon after we were leading the Young Adult Sunday School class together. I will always remember the advice that you gave me as a new Christian in my twenties. I was very nervous to get involved with the ministry because I had a heavy schedule working for my father’s company. You told me if I take a small step of faith to help, God will help me with the other areas of my life. That was so true. I was able to accomplish more in the other areas and have more time to serve him in ministry. Before Steve and I were married we had a full week of serving almost every day. After we got married, nothing changed because we were still serving throughout the week. Not only have Steve and I been blessed but our children also. Our children were part of the youth ministry growing up. They remember the fun times and especially the summer camps. Now they help in the Kids Church Ministry and Praise & Worship. Five of them are young adults and they get to be involved in the Young Adult Ministry. We are grateful to be serving under your ministry in which we are always challenged to grow in our walk with the Lord.

With Much Love and Aloha

Melvin Corpuz

First Assembly of God, Leeward Region

Dear Pastor Ko,

On behalf of Corpuz Ohana, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on your remarkable journey of 40 years in ministry. Your unwavering dedication to serving the Lord and His people is truly inspiring.

Your 30 years as a senior pastor have been marked by wisdom, compassion, and steadfast leadership. You have guided our church through times of joy and challenge, always pointing us towards Christ and His teachings. Your sermons have touched countless lives, and your pastoral care has been a source of comfort and strength for so many.

Furthermore, your decade of service as district superintendent has had a profound impact beyond our local church. Your vision and guidance have strengthened our district, fostering unity and growth among our churches. Your ability to mentor other pastors and leaders has multiplied your influence, touching lives far beyond what you might imagine.

Pastor Ko, your life exemplifies the qualities described in Ephesians 6:6-7. You have served not with “eye-service” as a people-pleaser, but as a true bondservant of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Your service has consistently been rendered with good will, as to the Lord and not to man.

We are deeply grateful for your years of faithful service, your spiritual leadership, and the example you’ve set for all of us. May God continue to bless you and your ministry in the years to come.

With sincere appreciation and admiration,

Pastor Mel Corpuz and Family
