About Leeward

Every church is a family, and at Leeward regional center, families are the main vessel through which Christ’s love is spread throughout the community. Pastor Robert Tokunaga, who oversees the Leeward region, has reported that membership participation is the driving force behind the rapid growth of their ministry.

Leeward regional center members are being trained to look at others through eyes of faith, encouraging people and loving them unconditionally. “When you serve together, you grow,” Pastor Robert says.

In addition to services held at Makakilo Elementary, Leeward regional members minister to the community through outreaches at Kapolei Shopping Center, Son Rise prayer in Geiger Park, and free shave ice celebrations held in members’ yards, where neighbors can be personally invited to Sunday morning service. The different personalities of church members blend together, working in unison to turn people to Christ.

Pastor Robert emphasizes to members that every soul is precious. Similar to the public school slogan of “No Child Left Behind,” First Assembly has its own policy that is evident in regions like Leeward: “Nobody Left Behind.”
