Located beneath the imposing ridges of the Ko‘olau Mountains in the lush town of Kahalu‘u is the Windward regional center. Under the leadership of Pastor Janet Kusuhara, First Assembly of God Windward encourages its members to reach out to their neighbors through outreaches, ministry and lifestyle. Although laid back and friendly properly describe the experience at Windward, a strong dedication to community service and missions are a central part of the church’s purpose and vision.
Recently the Windward region began experiencing exponential growth since starting a second worship service on Sundays. They have seen a significant increase in attendance and outreaches, and growth in the youth and young adults minitries. Because of their rapid expansion, they’ve had to erect two large tents to house the hospitality ministry and School For Christian Growth classes, and are in the process of erecting a third tent to hold additional classes.
Plans are currently in place for a new building project, and work is in progress to obtain the necessary permits (more details will be revealed as the project progresses). God is continually challenging the Windward region to grow and mature spiritually, and we are believing for even greater things to happen in the future.
